External Sources of Accreditation

The following bodies of accreditation are frequently used by schools as an external source of accreditation. There are numerous alternative external accrediting bodies which are not listed within this resource, including those for religious schools.

AMERICAN MONTESSORI SOCIETY

AMS

The American Montessori Society is a leading member in the global community of Montessori educators. Accreditation by the American Montessori Society indicates the highest level of recognition for a Montessori school as well as provides guidance, empowerment and high ideals for the school community.

NATIONAL INDEPENDENT PRIVATE SCHOOLS ASSOCIATION

NIPSA

The National Independent Private Schools Association seeks to advocate for the interests of proprietary academic schools as well as their students and surrounding communities. Accreditation by the National Independent Private Schools Association indicates that a school is associated with the National Council for Private Schools Accreditation as well as accredited by an organization recognized by the US Department of Education.

THE ASSOCIATION OF WALDORF SCHOOLS IN NORTH AMERICA

AWSNA

The Association of Waldorf Schools in North America is a recognized accrediting agency of the International Council Advancing Independent School Accreditation. Accreditation by the association of Waldorf Schools in North America indicates a desire for the development and nurturing of excellence.
