Private accreditation may be obtained for a homeschool in Oregon, however, Oregon law does not require any homeschool to seek accreditation.

Oregon state does not provide curriculum and assignments for homeschooled students. However, academic and content standards have been developed by the Department of Education. These provide a loose framework to follow when developing home school curriculum. It is not required to teach the state content standards.
ASSESSMENT

Oregon state requires home schooled students to be tested in grade level 3, 5, 8 and 10. The tests will be conducted at the end of the school year. The parent or guardian is responsible for the costs of testing. Tests must be completed no later than August 15th. A recent and grade level appropriate edition of the test must be administered with a neutral qualified tester and test publisher. The current Oregon Administrative Rules lists the following approved tests: Comprehensive Tests of BasicSkills - CTBS Terra Nova, McGraw-Hill Tests Grade level 3-8 aligned with common core 3rd edition, Iowa Tests of Basic Skills: Riverside Publishing Co. Common Core Correlation K-12, 2008 Form C and Stanford 9th and 10th Editions are acceptable. A student must score at or above the 15th percentile or score equal to or greater than the composite score on the previous test. The test results must be stored and maintained in a cumulative record, results are to be sent to the local Education Service District promptly upon request.

Permanent public school records will be kept in the last public or private school that was attended. Parents or guardians are expected to maintain student records. Test results must be stored and maintained in a cumulative record, results are to be sent to the local Education Service District promptly upon request. Homeschool records will not be kept at the Oregon Department of Education. Homeschool records will not be a part of the students public school record.
REQUIREMENTS

There are three requirements that must be met in a timely manner in order to homeschool within the state of Oregon. First, the local Education Service District must be notified of intent to home school within ten days after the student has withdrawn from a public or private school. Second, the member implementing the home school must contact the Home School Tester(s) to coordinate testing at the end of grade levels 3, 5, 8 and 10. The testing will begin 18 months after the notification. Finally, test results must be submitted to the local Education Service District upon request.
